Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed Mikel Arteta was his only problem at Arsenal.
Aubameyang was announced as a Barcelona player on Wednesday after his contract with Arsenal was terminated a day before. The Gabon international was unveiled today and he revealed he ‘he never wanted to do anything bad’ during his stay with Arsenal.
The former Borussia Dortmund man was stripped of the captaincy following a series of disciplinary breaches. He was then dropped from the squad last year December which led him to push for exit and sign for the Catalans.
“They were some complicated months, sometimes football is like that,” he said during his presentation.
“If I had to say something about this, I would say on my behalf I never wanted to do anything bad. I have to put this behind me, that’s in the past, now I want to think about the present.”
On if Arteta was the problem
“Yes, I think it was just with him and then I made this decision. I can’t really tell you much, he wasn’t happy and that was it. I can’t say anything else because that’s what happened.
“I’m very happy, I’m better this way, that’s it.”
The 32-year-old signed a contract with the Catalans until the summer of 2025.
