Middlesbrough midfielder Crooks desperate to face Man Utd in FA Cup

Middlesbrough midfielder Matt Crooks is hoping he gets picked for Saturday’s FA Cup fourth-round tie with Manchester United.

Crooks and his family are lifelong Red Devils supporters.

“We’ve had seats at Old Trafford in the family for over 40 years,” Crooks told TeessideLive.

“I’ve been going to matches since I was little, for as long as I can remember. It was with my Grandad at first, then my dad, and other members of the family as well.

“So I’ve sat in the stands while growing up watching United and all the teams over the years.

“So it will be a dream come true for me to play at Old Trafford. It will be a big thing for me.”

He added: “I’m just hoping I play. You never know until you get the team sheet.

“I’m looking forward to it and it will definitely be the biggest game of my career so far, by a long stretch.

“I’ve not spoken to anyone else about the team, but I’ve been speaking to myself about it. I was laid in bed last night at about 3 o’clock thinking, ‘I hope I play’.

“We’re all looking forward to it though, and whatever team the gaffer selects it will be one he thinks can help us win the game.”
