Speaking to the press after PSG’s 3-0 victory over Bordeaux, Mauricio Pochettino expressed his disappointment with the atmosphere within the Parc des Princes, which was marred by relentless boos from the home fans in protest. Lionel Messi and Neymar were targeted in particular, despite the latter registering a second-half goal in front of the Auteuil stand.
“No one likes this context, it made me sad,” said the Argentine in response. “Everyone who loves PSG is sad after the disappointment of Madrid. I’m sad with what I experienced today.”
Asked whether Messi and Neymar were affected by what happened, Pochettino explained that “we were all affected. We understand the disappointment and the frustration. We’re all living it together, as a team. We have a duty to take responsibility for what happened. We share this disappointment with the supporters.”
The former Spurs boss was also asked about his choice to select Keylor Navas in place of Gianluigi Donnarumma, whose mistake led to Karim Benzema’s first goal on Wednesday night. “It was not a goalkeeping error but an officiating error. Donnarumma is doing well, we chose Keylor today. Gigio and Keylor are both disappointed. It’s results that decide the choice, not an error.”
