Man United to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as Paul Pogba’s replacement

Manchester United is planning to swoop for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic should Paul Pogba leave in the summer.

Gazzetta dello Sport claims that United are planning for life after the Frenchman as he’s been giving them mixed signals over his contract situation.

The Red Devils have had a long-time interest in the Serbian with Lazio having previously looked for €100 million for the midfielder. The Italian side is said to be prepared to lower the price tag to €70-80m as the midfielder is about to enter the final two years of his contract.

But it’s not only United who are interested in the player as there are reports that PSG has also been monitoring the player as they seek to find someone who backs Marco Verrati who has been hampered with injuries.

Milinkovic-Savic has been long linked with a Premier League move but Lazio’s hefty valuation has been a prime reason why most teams have never made a move for him.

He has bagged an impressive tally of eight goals and 10 assists from 37 games for Lazio this term. While the Serbian is more influential going forward, he has also fared better defensively than Pogba.

He has averaged 1.7 tackles and one interception, much superior to Pogba’s statistics (0.7 tackles and 0.6 interceptions per league game) as per Stats from Transfermarkt.
