Manchester United have been charged by the English FA for failing to control their players during their Tuesday night win over Brighton at Old Trafford.
While they had Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes to thank for their goals, the hosts’ players swarmed around referee Peter Bankes and demanded defender Lewis Dunk be sent off following a challenge of Anthony Elanga; a wish they got after VAR review.
The FA evidently deemed the United player’s reaction to being overzealous and have therefore decided to charge the club with failing to control their players.
“Manchester United FC has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20.1 following its Premier League game against Brighton & Hove Albion FC on Tuesday (15/2/22]).

“It is alleged that Manchester United FC failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 53rd minute, and the club has until Monday (21/2/22) to provide a response,” a statement from the FA noted.
The statement urged United to respond to the charge or get charged over the incident with the club currently preparing for their next clash against Leeds United as they hope to close the gap between them and the leading teams.
