Lyon coach Peter Bosz says disallowed goal is a “scandal”

In speaking after his Lyon side’s 1-0 loss at home to Lille last night, OL coach Peter Bosz discussed Lucas Paquetá’s controversially disallowed equaliser. The Brazilian’s pressure on Lille keeper Léo Jardim seemed to have forced a legitimate error, only for VAR to intervene and award a foul. Bosz said:

“I think it’s incredible not to have won this game, even a draw would’ve been disappointing. In my opinion, we played well. We had chances, we missed some – that’s our current problem… Besides, it’s a scandal to have been refused the goal we scored. I thought the referee was going to look for a foul on Renato Sanches but he saw a foul on the goalkeeper who kicked the ground, his leg then touched Lucas. The referee looked at the footage but not seeing it is amazing. It’s laughable. Everyone says he’s the best referee in France, but he’s not the best for Lyon. In Paris, he awarded a penalty to PSG which was very expensive for us. How can we rule out this goal? The president was angry. We’re not in this 10th place for this reason or because of the refereeing, but tonight the referee made a mistake.”
