Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says the arrival of Erling Haaland at Manchester City will elevate the Premier League to new heights.
The Norway international has passed a medical at City ahead of a summer transfer from Borussia Dortmund.
Seen as one of the greatest young talents in world football, the 21-year-old is set to become Pep Guardiola’s new star forward.
Klopp recently signed a new contract with Liverpool, keeping him with the club until 2026, and the German says he did so knowing City would continue to improve.
Asked about his rivals signing Haaland, Klopp said: “If Erling Haaland goes there, it will not weaken them – definitely not.
“I think it’s been spoken about enough and at the moment it’s a lot of talk about money but this transfer will set new levels, let me say it like that.”
He added: “I signed a new contract knowing that City will not stop developing, so it’s not about if City keep flying whether we can be happy or not. It’s about us and what we can make of it.
“We have so many opportunities and so many different ways to win a football game, and we to find just one. That’s possible, obviously, and we can do that.”
