Liverpool Champions League winner Jerzy Dudek admits he’s a fan of Alisson Becker.
Dudek discussed Alisson and Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic ahead of tomorrow night’s Champions League round 16 first-leg clash.
He told TMW: “Both are champions. Alisson has broken all records since joining Liverpool. Not easy at all, given that the Reds have always had great goalkeepers. If Liverpool have won in recent years a lot they owe it to him and his team too.
“For me he is in the top three of the world goalkeepers.
“I find Samir a very reliable, solid goalkeeper. All goalkeepers, myself included, have had to fight against criticism. This is because it is not easy to maintain performance at the highest level. And for a goalkeeper, a mistake means conceding a goal. And when you make two in a row then the criticism knocks you down.
“I also remember making mistakes in 2005, people and the media were talking about a new goalkeeper coming to Liverpool. I said to myself: what can I do? I did my best to fight and earn my place. It was not an easy season for me, the one that ultimately led us to win the Champions League. You always have to fight, be strong and pay no attention to anything else.”
