Juventus willing to convince Bayern target Matthijs de Ligt to stay

Matthijs de Ligt could end up staying at Juventus amid interest from Chelsea and Bayern Munich. But Juventus continue to keep in touch with Villarreal for Pau Torres.

According to La Stampa (via Bianconeranews.it), Juventus will try to persuade Matthijs de Ligt to stay at the Italian club during this summer transfer window.

The Bianconeri management has already rejected Bayern’s latest offer for the Dutch defender. Various reports have claimed that Juve intend to sell the centre-back for a transfer fee of around €90 million.

But Bayern’s recent proposals have not been even closer to Juventus’ asking price. It is unlikely that the German club could meet the price tag.

The Piedmontese club wants to convince De Ligt to sign an extension with the Italian club. It is also understood that Bianconeri will reduce De Ligt’s €120 million buy-out clause in the new contract.

Despite giving his consent to a summer transfer to Germany, De Ligt, 22, is reportedly satisfied with the club’s idea of lowering the overall amount of the release clause in a new contract.

He is also overwhelmed by the appreciation he has received from the fans since returning to the Italian club from his vacation. The report claims that the next few days will be decisive for his future in Turin.
