Roma coach Jose Mourinho seems to have underwent a change of heart regarding his future past this season as he is applying pressure on the board of the club to hand him an extension beyond the 2023/24 Serie A term.
Il Tempo reports, via ForzaRoma, the Portuguese tactician fines pleasure working in Rome as he feels loved by the supporters and the players within the capital and is eager to fulfill his promise following the frustrating defeat to Sevilla in Budapest within the Europa League finals.
Towards the end of last season, it seemed that Mourinho was unhappy at the helm of the Giallorossi as he felt a lack of financial backing from the board in the transfer market. However, despite the squad being below par to his standards, Mourinho is eager to continue the project that he started as he feels that he has unfinished business within the eternal capital.
Regardless of his desire to remain with the Giallorossi, Mourinho is well aware that the final decision regarding his future will come down to the board and sporting director Tiago Pinto.
As it stands, Roma currently sit in seventh with eighteen points, three points outside of the top-four of the Serie A. With his contract set to expire in the summer of 2024, it will all come down to whether Mourinho can turn Roma’s disappointing start to the season around as the Giallorossi are eyeing Bologna coach Thiago Motta and Antonio Conte as possible successor’s.
