PSG attacker Lionel Messi’s father has reportedly contacted Barcelona over a possible return for his superstar son.
Messi has only hit seven goals in 26 appearances since moving to the French capital and has seen the club’s fans turn on him in the aftermath of PSG’s Champions League collapse.
Days after the French table toppers threw away a comfortable lead against Real Madrid to crash out of Europe, Messi was whistled and jeered by his own supporters.
Booing aimed at the 34-year-old and his PSG team-mate Neymar marred the club’s 3-0 with over Bordeaux at the Parc des Princes on Sunday.
As Messi’s woes continue, it has now emerged that his father, Jorge, has reportedly reached out to former club Barcelona in a bid to end his son’s Paris nightmare.
According to Spanish journalist Gerard Moreno, Messi senior has been in contact with Barcelona in recent days in order to discuss the possibility of a sensational Nou Camp reunion with his son.
It is thought Jorge informed the club of Messi’s desire to return over a number of phone meetings, but the belief is that the Spanish giants have moved on.
