Inter Milan coach Inzaghi delighted after Coppa defeat of Atalanta

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi was delighted after their 1-0 Coppa Italia victory over Atalanta.

Matteo Darmian was the matchwinner as Inter reach the semifinals.

Inzaghi said, “Absolutely yes, we wanted it so much. We won this tournament last year, we have it on our shirt. We prepared this match in the best way, we were concentrated from the first to the 95th minute. The opponents were in great shape, but they found a great Inter side that won with merit.

“The facts speak, the pitch speaks. We always have to play games like this, trying to move forward in every competition.

“It’s not easy but in front of our fans, we wanted this qualification, we gave our fans a great joy. Let’s not forget that we were up against one of the most in-form teams.”

He spoke highly about veteran defender Francesco Acerbi.

“He has great concentration, he works a lot. But talking about him would be reductive, everyone did very well today.”

And on Romelu Lukaku’s performance, he added: “Good, today good. I’m very happy with the way I see him working, then from time to time I’ll have to make choices. Correa is also regaining his condition, but for Romelu I’m happy because the more time passes, the better he gets.”
