Inter keeping tabs on Italy debutant Mateo Retegui

Inter are keeping tabs on Italy debutant Mateo Retegui, who scored for the Azzurri in his first start for the country against England.

Retegui, after the game, stated that he would like to play in Italy or Europe at some point in the future. Sky Italia have reported that Inter have been keeping tabs on the Argentina-based born forward for more than a year and that is because of their excellent networks in Argentina. A lot of it is also down to how they are tracking their 23-year-old forward Facundo Colidio, who is currently on loan at Tigre himself and is teammates with Retegui.

His goal for Italy has caught the attention of many and can cause some complications for Inter. Tigre are set to buy the player from Boca Juniors in June for a fee of €2.5 million and Boca will have a 50 percent future resale in his contract. There is an expectation that his asking price in the summer could increase a fair bit now.

The futures of multiple Inter forwards are uncertain. Edin Dzeko is heading close to signing a one-year deal and Lautaro Martinez will stay, but there is uncertainty about the futures of both Romelu Lukaku and Joaquin Correa and that is why Retegui is someone worth keeping an eye on.
