“He was close to Arsenal,” agent clouds Arthur’s Juventus future

Arthur has reportedly been on the radar of Arsenal for a long, long time, with a potential separation with Juventus in the approaching summer transfer window gathering the pace.

In an interview with La Repubblica, Federico Pastorello, one of Arthur’s confidants, revealed that the former Barcelona midfielder was close to joining Arsenal in the last winter transfer window. He also believes that the midfielder could leave Turin soon. Pastorello said,

“In January he was close to Arsenal. He is too important a player to be marginalized, he must also think about the national team. With Sarri, he would have played Jorginho, but despite Allegri respecting him, he wants two physically structured midfielders. It is not in anyone’s interest to continue in this situation.”

Having struggled to cope with all the fitness issues, Arthur has made only 20 appearances while covering a playing time of around 958 minutes in Serie A this season. It is believed that Juventus are considering selling the 25-year-old in the summer, with Arsenal and Newcastle United being two of the player’s reported admirers.

Juventus will look to replace the Brazilian with some heavy investments as the names such as Jorginho and Sergej Milinković-Savić are being continuously linked with a move to Turin this summer.
