Guardiola hails his side’s comeback against West Ham

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola hailed his charges’ comeback against West Ham on Sunday evening.

The league leaders found themselves two goals down at the London Stadium but managed to rally back and restore matters and even had the chance to win the game but missed a penalty late on.

While the result gave Liverpool a lifeline in the title race, Guardiola believes his players gave their best in the duel.

“It was a great comeback and it is an incredible credit to the team to do it against this team and with the way they defend. They are so good in the transition and I think we played a good game. We spoke at half-time about not giving up and if we scored one goal we’d be in the game.

“There is one more week, one more game, with our people – I assure it will be sold out and we’ll do the best performance possible to win the game and win the title,” Guardiola said after the game.

City are now four points clear of Liverpool who have played a game less. The Reds take on Southampton on Tuesday and should they fail to win the match, City will be crowned Champions before their final day of the season.

City has a date with Aston Villa on the final day of the season where Liverpool will be hosting Wolves at Anfield.
