FC Midtjylland director Claus Steinlein admits they made an attempt for Christian Eriksen.
The Dane signed for Brentford a fortnight ago after being released by Inter Milan at the beginning of the season.
Steinlen revealed, “It was very loose, I would say. I think everyone has just inquired. It would be nonsense to say that we have approached. I knew Brentford was interested too.
“‘Could there be a chance?’. When I saw he was on his way to OB, I also thought we had a small chance.
“He was on trial training at the academy in 2004, so it could be that he could remember where the facility was located. I saw the chance as minimal, so that was not what we spent our energy on.
“One of our people just asked a little about whether he was going to Denmark. When it was said no, that was it. Our job is to shoot at everything, but you also know sometimes that you shoot next to.
“But Max Meyer was also a wild shot, and we succeeded. It could be that Eriksen would think that it was cool to live out in nature in our region.”
