Exclusive | Diédry Kouassi set to leave Monaco and attracting Ligue 1 interest

Sources contacted by Get French Football News have revealed that AS Monaco Diédry Kouassi (22) is set to leave the club in the summer, with the player attracting interest from Ligue 1 rivals.

Kouassi joined the club last summer, signing a two-year deal. However, since arriving, the former Vannes forward has failed to pierce into the first-team squad. His route is notably blocked by players such as Wissam Ben Yedder, Kevin Volland, Breel Embolo and Myron Boadu.

Within that context, Kouassi, whose contract runs until the summer of 2024, is set to depart Les Monégasques this summer. Despite not featuring for the first team, his performances with the club’s development squad, the Groupe Élite, have nonetheless caught the eye of some Ligue 1 sides.

According to sources contacted by Get French Football News, local rivals OGC Nice have registered an interest in Kouassi, as have Lille OSC, who will likely need to replace Jonathan David this summer, have also made contact.

However, if Kouassi is to move on from the Principality club this summer, any interested party will have to reach an agreement with Monaco, who aren’t prepared to part with their asset cheaply despite the player only having one more year on his contract.
