In the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund fell to a shock 5-2 defeat at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen in what will be a dent in their hopes of cutting the gap between them and leaders Bayern Munich.
Dortmund are now nine points behind the leaders who beat RB Leipzig 3-2 on Saturday. Leverkusen stayed third but reduced the gap with Dortmund to five points.

In Spain, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang made his debut for Barcelona as they ran 4-2 winners over ten-man Atletico Madrid. Valencia took their winless run in the league to five reached after being held by Real Sociedad to a 0-0 draw as Real Madrid had Marco Asensio to thank in their 1-0 win over Granada.
