Conte: Arteta complains a lot

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has accused his Arsenal counterpart Mikel Arteta of ‘complaining a lot’ in the aftermath of the north London derby defeat on Thursday night.

Arteta complained of the officiating as his side lost 3-0 at the Tottenham Stadium, with Rob Holding seeing red midway through the first half.

A brace from Harry Kane and a strike from Heung-min Son breathed new life into Spurs’ push for a top-four finish, while denting the Gunners’ in the process.

It was after the match that Areta took issue with the refereeing, accusing Paul Tierney of ‘destroying a beautiful game’.

Conte however hit back at the Spaniard over the comments, while referencing the number of fouls he felt went unpunished during Spurs’ 1-1 draw with Liverpool last weekend.

“He complains a lot. He has to focus more on his team,” the Italian tactician said when quizzed on Arteta’s remarks. “He has to focus more on his work. He has to continue to work because he’s very good. To hear someone complain all the time is not so good.

“At Liverpool do you hear me complain about Fabinho and all the fouls? No. He can take my advice if he wants, but if not I don’t care.”

Despite the win, Spurs still remain in fifth on the standings, a point behind their London rivals with two matches to go.

Spurs play Burnley on Sunday and could leapfrog the Gunners with a win, albeit until Arteta’s charges play Newcastle on Monday.
