Christophe Galtier on Marseille’s shortlist to replace Igor Tudor

La Provence are reporting that Christophe Galtier is on Olympique de Marseille’s shortlist to replace Igor Tudor, who cut his stay at the Vélodrome short last week.

The Croatian manager arrived at Marseille last summer, signing a two-year deal, but announced last week that he would depart the club mid-way through his contract, citing “private and professional” reasons. As a result, like last summer, Les Phocéens are in the market for a manager.

A surprise name on Marseille’s shortlist is Galtier. Whilst it has been reported in French media that he is no longer the manager of Paris Saint-Germain, his departure is yet to be officialised. He is, nonetheless, already being linked with jobs. Galtier is from the Mediterranean city and is expected to engage in discussions with Marseille in the coming hours, according to La Provence.

However, he is reportedly unlikely to take the job, as he requires the time to mentally recover from his spell at PSG, as well as the accusations of racism from his time at former club OGC Nice. Galtier has denied the allegations.

There are other names on the shortlist, although Marseille aren’t looking to rush things. Ray Vallecano manager Andoni Iraola was contacted, but he is unlikely to succeed Tudor in the dugout at the Vélodrome. As initially revealed by Get French Football News, Marcelino is also on Marseille’s shortlist according to La Provence, alongside Marcelo Gallardo.
