Karim Benzema celebrated his 301st LaLiga game for Real Madrid with a brace in victory over Valencia.

The striker has now netted 301 times in 584 games. After the clash Benzema was presented with a commemorative jersey by club president Florentino Pérez and was pleased with his achievement.

He said, “I’m proud to reach this figure at this club. It makes me really happy because for me this club’s the best in the world. We played really well today.

“After the defeat against Getafe we won in the cup and we put on a great display for the fans today. It was even in the first half. No games are easy. The opposition wanted to win too, but in the end we managed to win and that’s the most important thing for us.”

Benzema added: “These are really important figures. If we can help the team with goals and assists we’ll do it in every game. I always feel good with Vini Jr. and I’m here to help him, he’s got great potential, he can go higher and he’s a fantastic player for us. He helps us a lot. We have to keep going like this. I think we deserved the win.”
