According to Foot Mercato, a meeting took place early in January between Kylian Mbappé (25) and Real Madrid where the star forward agreed to join the club at the end of the season.
Following this meeting, Mbappé then requested an appointment with Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi in mid-January to notify him of his decision. It is alleged that Al-Khelaïfi suspected the reason behind the meeting and postponed it until February in the hope that Mbappé might have a change of mind.
However, when the meeting eventually takes place on the 13th of February, it becomes evident that there is no convincing Mbappé to remain at the club this time. It is not a question of money as it is suspected that Madrid cannot compete with the financial remunerations that PSG can afford, and the forward is expected to take a significant pay cut to facilitate a move.
Mbappé wants a change of scenery and the chance to win titles with the Spanish giant and with this choice, he has finally brought an end in sight to the saga that has dragged on since 2017.
Although the decision still remains unconfirmed, with it suspected that the player will wait until PSG can no longer face Real Madrid in the Champions League before announcing his choice to depart his hometown club.
