Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt hold talks for Italy international Mateo Retegui

Bundesliga sides Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt held talks for Italy international and Tigre striker Mateo Retegui yesterday, with contact expected with Inter today.

Corriere della Sera have reported about the situation of the Argentina-born Italian, saying that Retegui’s father Carlos arrived in Rome recently. Along with the player, they spoke to both Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen. Today is said to be another crucial day, with the player, his father and his agent set to go to Milan and speak to Inter.

The Nerazzurri have been following him for a while now and Inter’s deputy sporting director Dario Baccin was in Malta to watch Retegui play.

The complicated factor about his transfer would be that the buying club would have to agree a deal with both Boca Juniors (his parent club) and Tigre. Tigre are expected to redeem 50 percent of the player’s rights by June, meaning that Retegui will be partly owned by Boca.

Lazio are in the chase for the 23-year-old and Atalanta are too. Both Milan and Juventus have remained informed about his situation as well. Atletico Madrid are also expected to make an offer for him.
