Barcelona are confident securing Gavi and Ronald Araujo to new contracts.
Barcelona want to tie them down until June 2027.
Sport says the Catalans have been negotiating with them and the negotiations are advanced. Araujo needs more work because there are siren songs from the Premier League – Chelsea, Man United – that oblige Barcelona to increase their offer.
Bit by bit the sides, which were far apart at first, are drawing closer together.
In Gavi’s case, negotiations are even further down the line. The Andalusian midfielder has wanted to succeed here since he was 11, playing in Alevin A.
He signed a B team contract in September 2020, until June 2023, with a release clause of 50m euros. He has agreed with Barcelona a renewal bonus of around 2 million euros.
The club believe he deserves an important raise, having participated in 26 of the 31 games this season, he’ll have a 100,000 a week salary and from next season will be part of the professional squad.
Araujo and Gavi have assured the coach of their will to stay and Xavi considered them key to the project he is designing.
