Barcelona sporting director Mateu Alemany has found breakthroughs in new contract talks with Gavi and Ronald Araujo.
Sport says Alemany and the sporting department are getting close to the renewals of Araujo and Gavi. They hope both will be sealed in March, possibly after the El Clasico against Real Madrid on the 20th.
Gavi’s contract is still a youth deal and needs to be greatly raised, along with his release clause. He earns little more than €100,000-a-year and his clause is €50m at present.
His new deal will be for five years although they are studying how to do that for a player who is still underage. His release clause, like that of Pedri, Ansu and Ferran Torres, will be 1 billion euros.
Araujo’s will be the same. There is now optimism over a deal with him that there was not at the start because of all the links with England.
However now the club and Araujo’s agent are close to an agreement, with the player keen to stay. The Uruguayan does not forget that Barcelona bet on him and he is grateful.
