Atletico Madrid coach Simeone talks up Man City target Felix; praises Correa

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone says Joao Felix can be anything – “but it’s up to him”.

Felix has been linked with Manchester City this week after their sale of Ferran Torres to Barcelona.

However, Simeone has no plans to lose the Portugal attacker and said as much when previewing tonight’s Supercopa de Espana semifinal against Athletic Bilbao.

Asked if Felix will start, the coach said: “Of course he has possibilities. He is excited, like all his colleagues, and continuing to talk about João is repetitive. He has everything to be an extraordinary footballer, it will depend on him to demonstrate and sustain it, which is the most difficult thing.”

Asked about the form of Angel Correa, Simeone continued: “Ángel is one of the best footballers we have between the lines and in those offensive transition turns. His position is forward, it has always been since he arrived, but we have looked for another position in the team and he has helped us with great effort, especially as a right winger.

“But he feels comfortable as a striker, he is having continuity in his work and in scoring and that is what is asked of a striker when he plays.”
