Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has admitted that his Chelsea counterpart Edouard Mendy is the best in the world.
In a Q&A posted on the YouTube channel of another of the league’s goalkeepers, Watford’s Ben Foster, the Argentine expressed his thoughts on our number one.
“I’ve got to say [Edouard] Mendy. He’s having clean sheets for fun. He’s winning everything. He’s having a wonderful season again.
“I like his story. 23-year-old with no club, he got nothing for free. The fact he is winning everything now shows hard work pays off,” he said.

It has been 18 months to remember for Mendy at Chelsea since his summer transfer from Stade Rennais in 2020 with the player going on to lift the Champions League, Super Cup, and Club World Cup for club, as well as win the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal.
The 30-year-old was picked out by Petr Cech and has collected several personal accolades, including The Best FIFA Goalkeeper for 2021 award.
