Alfred Schreuder and Raúl the next managers to be linked to the vacant Union Berlin role

After the sacking of Urs Fischer before the international break, Union Berlin have been without a permanent manager after Oliver Glasner was linked to the role Alfred Schreuder and Raúl have been linked to the role reports Bild

Raúl had been linked to the Schalke role earlier in the season but was uninterested as he believed it was the wrong time for him to take over his former club.

Now he has been linked to Union, the situation will likely be the same as he would be given a big task to turn around Union’s season, especially with little coaching experience. Despite his compatriot Xabi Alonso being able to turn Bayer Leverkusen’s season around last season, the former midfielder is more an exception to this.

An alternative is former Ajax manager Schreuder, the Dutch manager is currently without a job after being sacked by UAE side Al-Ain but he fits the profile that would be suited to the type of manager Union wants as he has Bundesliga experience as he was an ex-Hoffenheim manager.

Former Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner still cannot be ruled out of the running either.

For Union’s next two games, the team will be led by Marco Grote and the first-ever female coach in the league Marie-Louise Eta. Union’s first game in the post-Fischer era is against Augsburg on Saturday.
