Tottenham suffered their third straight Premier League defeat as they went down 2-0 at home to Wolves on Sunday afternoon. 

Raul Jimenez and Leander Dendoncker got the goals for the visiting team in the first half, and despite their best efforts, Spurs were not good enough on the day. 

The London club went into the match having lost to Chelsea and most recently, Southampton, and were looking to bounce back to winning ways. 

Wolves, who lost 1-0 to Arsenal in midweek, however, had different plans as they comfortably walked away with maximum points, their fourth straight victory on the road. 

The visitors settled first in the match and took a sixth-minute lead through Jimenez, who took advantage of a poor Hugo Lloris clearance. 

It all started with Ruben Neves fashioning a shot from the edge of the box after receiving an accurate pass, but Lloris made a stunning save to stop the effort from flying into the bottom right corner.

The clearance however fell to Jimenez, who gleefully rifled the ball into the top right corner. 

Son Heung-min forced a good save from Jose Sa in the 16th minute, and the visitors responded with a fine attack that could have doubled their lead only for Daniel Podence’s shot to hit the post. 

Dendoncker then made it 2-0 in the 18the minute when he fired home a rebound into the middle of the goal after the ball fell to him in the box. 

Antonio Conte was then forced to make a tactical change just before the half-hour mark, withdrawing Ryan Sessegnon for Dejan Kulusevski.

Lloris denied Podence once again in the 36th minute with a top-class save as Wolves sought to add to their tally. 

It was a balanced affair in the second period, with both teams creating goal-scoring chances as Spurs tried to find their way back into the game. 

Wolves however held on for the win, which took them above Spurs and in the process boosted their European ambitions.

In another match, Fabinho scored the only goal of the match as Liverpool beat Burnley 1-0 at the Turf Moor. 

The Brazilian powerfully steered the ball into the bottom left corner of the target after a rebound fell to him, leaving the goalkeeper completely helpless.

The win moved Liverpool to 54 points, nine off league leaders Man City, who won 4-0 on Saturday. 

At the St. James Park, Newcastle boosted their survival hopes with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa. 

Kieran Trippier scored the all-important goal midway through the first half, even though the visitors had a goal ruled out for offside in the second half.
