🚨 Liverpool silence San Siro with two late goals, Salzburg frustrate Bayern Munich

Liverpool scored two late goals as they overcame Inter Milan 2-0 in their round of 16 first leg Champions League clash played at the San Siro on Wednesday night.

Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah scored the two goals, both coming in the last quarter of the game.

With the away goals rule scrapped, Inter Milan will have another chance in the second leg at Anfield in a fortnight.

The match got off to an entertaining start, with both sides carving out early scoring chances.

Lautaro Martinez got the first chance in the fifth minute but his effort went narrowly wide as Liverpool got a goal-kick.

Four minutes later, Thiago Alcantara tried a long-range effort, but it was over-hit as it sailed a few inches above the crossbar.

Sadio Mane then wasted a good chance to put Liverpool ahead, before Hakan Calhanoglu hit the post on the quarter-hour mark.

Firmino and Mane had a chance each again before the break, with Liverpool finishing strongly.

The second half saw the tempo drop a little, and with the match seemingly headed for a draw, Liverpool struck in the 75th minute.

A corner was whipped in and Firmino found himself in the right place at the right time, planting a header straight into the bottom left corner.

Salah then sealed the win with seven minutes to go as he pounced on a rebound inside the box and gleefully rifled the ball low into the middle of the net.

The win places Liverpool in cruise control of the tie, which has another 90 minutes.

In another match, Kingsley Coman scored a 90th-minute equaliser as Bayern Munich forced a 1-1 draw away to RB Salzburg.

The hosts were the better side through the match, but could not hold on for the win.

Chikwubuike Adamu gave the hosts the lead after 20 minutes when Brenden Aaronson found him with a short, square pass before bending a shot straight into the right side of the goal.

The Bavarians had to wait until the closing stages of the match to make any point as Thomas Muller headed a high ball in front of goal, with Coman easily tapping home.
