🚨 De Bruyne scores FOUR as leaders Manchester City crush Wolves at Molineux

Kevin de Bruyne scored four times as Manchester City crushed Watford 5-1 to move closer to defending their Premier League crown on Wednesday night.

The Belgian, who has been in good form in recent weeks, stole the show at Molineux Stadium, hitting a hat-trick inside the opening 24 minutes.

He opened his account for the day after just seven minutes when he got to the end of a perfectly weighted Bernando Silva cross to beat the keeper with a tight angle.

The hosts momentarily equalised after some superb work from Pedro Neto, who played a vital role in the build-up. He squared it to Leander Dendoncker, who beat Ederson with a brilliant shot into the bottom right corner.

De Bruyne restored City’s lead in the 16th minute when he reacted fastest to stab home a rebound after the ball fell to him.

Two minutes into the second half, City thought they had grabbed a third when Raheem Sterling found the back of the net, but his effort was ruled out for offside.

There is nothing the hosts could do though on the hour mark as De Bruyne, once again, pounced on a loose ball inside the box to easily beat the goalkeeper, who had already committed.

Phil Foden came close to scoring a fifth when he latched onto a good pass inside the box and unleashed a good shot, and his effort beat the keeper, only to deflect off the left post to safety.

There was time for the visitors to add a fifth, and it came five minutes from time when they launched a lightning counterattack that was finished by Sterling from close range.

The win firmly puts them in the drivers’ seat going into the last two matches of the season.

Guardiola’s men currently lead the table on 89 points, three ahead of Liverpool, who beat Aston Villa 2-1 on Tuesday night.
