Carroll was receiving a medical at the Midlands club earlier on Friday, The Athletic reported.
The former Newcastle, Liverpool, and West Ham striker became a free agent earlier this month when a short-term agreement with Reading expired.
West Brom bought Daryl Dike from Orlando City for £7 million on January 1, but the 21-year-hamstring old’s problem has pushed Valerien Ismael back into the transfer market.

Dike suffered the injury on January 22 against Peterborough and is anticipated to miss roughly two months.
According to The Athletic, the club considered Southampton attacker Shane Long as well, but Ralph Hasenhuttl will not allow the Irish international to return on loan to his previous club.
Carroll scored two goals and added an assist in eight Reading appearances this season, after working his way into Veljko Paunovic’s starting eleven prior to his contract expiring.
All the best to the lad in his new chapter!
