Atletico Madrid has confirmed that captain Koke will miss their Wednesday night Champions League clash with Manchester United.
The midfielder suffered a thigh problem during his side’s win over Osasuna last weekend and according to the club, the player wont be fit in time for the clash.
“Our player Koke finished with discomfort in the last game we played against Osasuna. The midfielder has undergone medical tests in recent days, with the results revealing that he suffered a muscle injury to his thigh,” part of a statement from Atleti noted.
Carrasco, Lemar, Cunha, Koke out. That’s 3 of our top 5 players this season + our Captain gone. Griezmann hasn’t played a game in month, Giménez took a knock 3 days ago, Wass out too.
Crazy how we’ve been arriving to these ties in the worst possible shape in the last 2 seasons. https://t.co/eaR1kMonRt

It is not clear for how long the Spaniard will be out but the Wednesday game at Wanda Metropolitano will come early for him.
Apart from Koke, the club will be without the services of Thomas Lemar against Ralf Rangnick’s men, with the Frenchman having only recently recovered from COVID-19. Others who will miss the clash are Matheus Cunha and Daniel Wass.
