🚨 Liverpool storm FA Cup Fifth round with easy home win

Liverpool stormed the FA Cup fifth round courtesy of a 3-1 home win against Cardiff City on Sunday afternoon.

Diogo Jota, Takumi Minamino, and Elliot Harvey got the goals for Jurgen Klopp’s side, with Robin Colwill grabbing the consolation for the visitors.

It was a quiet first-half but Liverpool got the first chance inside the opening six minutes when Diogo Jota got some space inside the box and unleashed a shot through the middle of the goal but Dillon Phillips pulled off an exquisite save to deny him.

Cardiff had a penalty appeal in the 22nd minute after Mark Harris went down under a challenge from a defender, but the referee paid no attention to the players’ appeals, and play continued.

The match then roared to life in the second half as Liverpool scored three with a single reply from the visitors.

The Reds took the lead eight minutes into the match when Jota outjumped the defence in the centre of the box and connected with the free-kick from Trent Alexander-Arnold, sending the ball inside the left post with his towering header for a 1-0 lead.

Ten minutes later, Minamino got into a good position after latching on to a precise pass into the box and unleashed a low effort which ended up in the bottom right corner.

The chances kept coming for Liverpool and it was 3-0 before with 15 minutes to go as Elliott unleashed a first-time shot from inside the box and beat the goalkeeper into the bottom right corner.

Colwill then gave the visitors something to smile about when he got on the end of a pass inside the box and fires into the bottom left corner but did not amount to anything as the Reds held on for the win.

Liverpool will now face Norwich in the next round.
