Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has assured the club’s supporters he will make calls on the futures of his three forwards.
Marcus Rashford faces a long absence after a shoulder operation, while there are question marks over Amad and Anthony Elanga’s opportunities to play in the looming season.
“First with Marcus, we’ll make a decision in the next few days when we check him up again,” Ole said via United’s media. “We’ll see what’s best for him and what’s best for the club, that has to be considered,” he added.
With Jesse Lingard’s return and the arrival of Jadon Sancho as a marquee signing, what does it mean for Amad and Elanga?
“We think about every single player’s and the club’s best pathway – what’s best for this season, what’s best for the future. Amad’s enjoying the Olympics and we’ll sit down towards the end of the window to see how we are,” Ole continued.
“Of course, with Elanga, a decision on him is a big one. There’s Marcus and his injury status, so we’ll make a decision on Amad when he comes back and sit down with him,” the Norwegian concluded.
United will kick off the new Premier League season at Old Trafford against Leeds United on Saturday 14 August.
