🇩🇪 Eintracht Frankfurt vs Arminia Bielefeld

A mini two-match winless run (D1, L1) in recent weeks has halted Eintracht Frankfurt’s progress up the Bundesliga table after winning six of their seven previous league outings. They’ve netted two or more goals in seven of their last nine Bundesliga matches, so tidying things up at the back will be key if they are to mount a serious push for the top four. Bielefeld is in brilliant form themselves, unbeaten across their last four league outings (W2, D2) and scoring exactly two goals in all four of those matches. That sequence included a win on the road against RB Leipzig and a 2-2 draw at Freiburg. The last 15 Bundesliga H2Hs have produced an average of 2.93 goals per game.

🇮🇹 Hellas Verona vs Bologna

Hellas made up for a surprising home defeat to basement side Salernitana by beating Sassuolo 4-2 in their last match. Verona has now scored 41 goals this season the highest number they’ve ever recorded at this stage of a Serie A campaign. Bologna was closing in on the top six at the start of December, but have now lost five of their last six Serie A outings and find themselves three points adrift of Hellas. The hosts have work to do at home, winless in their last five competitive games here (D2, L3) despite facing bottom-half opponents on three occasions.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Watford vs Norwich

Norwich claimed a much-needed win against Everton last time out, meaning that they trail today’s opponents Watford by just a point, although the Hornets have two games in hand on the Canaries. Claudio Ranieri’s hosts are also winless in seven EPL matches since a triumph over Man United in late November, and it would be no surprise to see this becoming a scrappy and tightly-contested affair between two struggling sides.

🇫🇷 Lyon vs Saint-Étienne

Lyon has an opportunity to address their recent patchy form against Ligue 1’s rock-bottom team Saint-Étienne. They’ve only kept a single clean sheet in their last 13 home matches though, so that is an area of serious concern. The absence of AFCON participants Wabhi Khazri and Denis Bouanga – who account for 56% of Saint-Étienne’s league goals this term – means that Lyon will be eyeing a rare shutout.

🇪🇸 Espanyol vs Real Betis

Having alternated between a loss and a win from the end of October onwards in LaLiga, Espanyol snapped out of that run of results with a last gasp 2-2 draw against Cádiz in midweek. They now face a high-flying Real Betis side that they haven’t beaten since 2017. Betis ended a three-match winless LaLiga run recently with a 4-0 demolition of Alaves, so spirits in the green & white camp will be high, especially after their Copa del Rey victory over local rivals Sevilla. Espanyol has held a half-time clean sheet in 80% of their LaLiga home games this season, but that could be about to change against the only side in Spain’s top flight yet to be involved in a goalless draw this term.
