Mateo Kovacic has been awarded the Premier League’s January Goal of the Month.
The Blues man struck a fantastic volley from beyond the box against Liverpool earlier this month to make it 2-1 to the Reds, before Christian Pulisic equalized only a few minutes later in one of the season’s most entertaining games.

Kovacic’s goal faced stiff competition from West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini’s finish against Crystal Palace and Everton’s Richarlison’s overhead kick against Norwich City. Hakim Ziyech was also shortlisted for the January award for his curling strike against Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the month, with the Blues and Southampton sharing the most nominations.
Chelsea sit third in the Premier League, but are 12 points behind leaders and defending champions Manchester City.
