Things are starting to get desperate in the scrap to avoid relegation from the riches of the Premier League.
Frank Lampard finds himself in the eye of that particular storm, with his Everton side losing their last four Premier League matches without scoring a single goal. They’re now level on points with 18th-placed Watford although they do have three games in hand on the Hornets. However, games in hand mean very little when you consider Everton’s appalling form in 2022 that dates back to October 2021. Since then, they’ve only won two of 20 EPL matches, losing 15, and averaged 0.45 points per game in that sequence. That’s the worst such figure of anyone in the division.
Newcastle United travels to Goodison Park this Thursday high on confidence, despite a last-gasp 1-0 defeat at Chelsea which snapped their long unbeaten run of nine matches prior (W6, D3). This is the start of a pivotal sextuplet of Premier League tests for the Merseysiders.

Thursday’s test against Newcastle is followed by an FA Cup date away to Crystal Palace on the 20th before the international break. Then things start to get really serious with matches at Goodison against Man United and Palace again. Then it’s a trip to Anfield to face title-challengers Liverpool in the always-heated Merseyside Derby.
Chelsea visits Goodison on the final day of April to round out a daunting six weeks for the Toffees. But first things first, Newcastle at home and nothing other than three points will be good enough for the disgruntled Everton fanbase.
