Newcastle United midfielder Jeff Hendrick has gone on loan to Championship side Queens Park Rangers.
The Republic of Ireland star is getting a chance to play regular football, as his game time at the Magpies would have been extremely limited for the rest of this season.
Manager Eddie Howe let the 30-year-old leave with his blessing, especially with Newcastle securing the signing of Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon recently.
Hendrick said after the deal’s conclusion: “Anyone who knows me will know I will be disappointed with the game time I have got this season so I wanted to get out, get games and enjoy my football.
“I wasn’t just going to sit around. A big thing for me is to push myself and enjoy my football.”
Fellow Toon midfielder Matty Longstaff has also left the club on loan.
The 21-year-old was recalled from his spell with Aberdeen and will now join League Two side Mansfield Town.
Mansfield boss Nigel Clough said: “To get a good midfielder with Premier League experience is a coup for us.
“We’re looking forward to working with Matty and get him playing some regular football.
